Lands' End Europe
2022 - Present: Senior UX Designer
As the senior UX designer I am focused on optimising all e-commerce interactions. I continually review the European sites identifying pain points through user research and collaboration with the analytics team.
I constantly strive to develop an engaging, responsive and cohesive online shopping experience that aligns and enhances with business goals. My html, css and fluid design knowledge is essential in creating clear briefs for the developers. My expertise in Figma allow me to create wireframes, mockups and prototypes that are shared with the wider team.
I champion the user and advise the business on accessibility best practises. I am SME for Lands' End EU in regards to the European Accessibility Act 2025, EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards.
Site struggles and areas for improvement are identified by:
- Conducting qualitative user research with Lands' End customers
- Bi-weekly review of online customer feedback via UK and DE websites
- Assessment of session recordings, journey progression and click rates with Glassbox tool
- Competitor analysis
- In-depth analysis of Baymard Institute research
- Trustpilot and Bazaarvoice feedback
- Customer Service team weekly catch-ups
- Data via analytics team
- A/B testing
Allthetopbananas.com
2015 - 2022
I was involved in all stages of the product design process at Allthetopbananas.com. I listened carefully to the requirements needed for all new product concepts and sketched out ideas, created wireframes and prepared prototypes. I presented ideas to colleagues and stakeholders and iterated based on feedback from group and/or individual meetings. I was part of the team creating html/css and also have experience using Bootstrap. I was happy to communicate, and work closely with, the dev team to ensure all product requirements could be met and a smooth transition ensured from design to dev and final publication.
I created the final graphics required for all web and app projects and strived to use best practises to produce artwork to the highest standard.
I worked alongside marketing and the social media team to create branded graphics, prepare blog content and produce online e-brochures and quarterly data reports.
My role also involved preparing promotional material for the Sales team including exhibition stands, branded clothing, business cards, flyers and giveaways.
My job not only involved web and app design, but also logos, and other opportunities to be creative. From exterior office signage to team hoodies, company Christmas cards to bespoke office artwork.
My work at Allthetopbananas.com was to solve problems and to do this creatively. Whatever project I worked on I was mindful of the needs of the business, but strived to keep the user front and centre.
Freelance Designer
2002 - present
I worked with a wide range of clients on a variety of projects from web design to logo development, wine labels to ecommerce shops and more. I took great pride in building lasting relationships with all customers and am proud of the fact that I continue to have many of these connections after 15+ years. Avatar
2000 - 2002: Senior Web Designer
I was primarily employed as a web designer at Avatar but also created animations and touch screen interfaces for shops (The Body Shop) and visitor centres (Royal Yacht Britannia Tourist Centre).
My main focus within the large team of designers was the complete redesign of the National Trust website. The look and feel I created remained live from 2000 - 2006. I liaised frequently via phone, email and face-to-face meetings with the head of design and marketing to ensure brand guidelines were adhered to. I also worked closely with the National Trust's photo library to fully utilise the high quality imagery.
I took training sessions for National Trust staff and instructed groups of up to 8 on how to create new web pages based on templates I had created, along with instructions on best web practises.
